Do I need to purchase Health Insurance for my son/daughter?
We provide International Health Insurance for all our project participants, provided they have valid Provincial Medical. The International Health Insurance covers things like:
In brief this insurance covers:
- Medical Emergency Services
- Medical Evacuation
- Emergency Travel Agency Services
- Emergency Legal Referral
Lost Baggage/Passport Assistance (directions on what to do in these cases, assistance in process; assistance in getting luggage forwarded)
-
Do you purchase Trip Cancellation Insurance with the airlines?
No. Campus for Christ will NOT automatically purchase cancellation insurance for your flights. If you would like this coverage, please call 1-800-563-1106 right away and ask for Susan dos Santos. We will then increase your project cost accordingly. No insurance covers you if you withdraw because you don’t raise all your support.
-
What happens if my son/daughter doesn’t raise all of their support?
Our projects are run on a pretty tight budget and cover all the expenses for the entire project so it is important to have all the participants with their support. The support coach tracking with each applicant will assist them in thinking through all the possible and logistical avenues to raise support. If these avenues are exhausted and the student is short less than $500 dollars, then it is up to the student to determine if they can pay off the remainder of the project cost themselves (perhaps through a summer job). If the student is significantly short they will be told they cannot attend the project. Any donations already processed will not be refundable.
-
How can I contact my child during the project?
The accessibility to email and other means of contact varies by location and sensitivity to the situation. In all cases, we do ask the students to refrain from use of facebook and email except at specific times. Their focus is the project. The project directors email the Campus Ministry National office approximately once a week with an update and the Campus Ministry National office sends out a parental email for each project as those updates come in.
-
Where will my child be staying?
Accomodation arrangements vary from project to project. Your child should receive more information through their project information and their support coach.
-
What are the Emergency Procedures for the projects?
In the event of a family emergency on your end (ie here at home), we encourage you to contact our Campus Ministry National office at 1 800 563 1106. Once we have the information from you, we will proceed with contacting the Project Director in country. In the event of an emergency at the project location, the project staff have been trained in the C4C procedures for crisis management. In a nutshell, they work with the local national C4C staff to determine the severity of the situation and the necessary steps to solution. Simultaneously, they contact the Crisis Management Team at C4C headquarters who assist in making decisions. If the emergency is medical in nature, then the Medical Insurance Company is involved as well.
-
What are the living conditions like? Is it safe?
Each project has different situations. We take time at orientation to brief the students on the necessary precautions and important information. We expect that the students will never travel outside of their accommodations alone (especially at night).
-
What is the history of Campus for Christ projects?
Campus for Christ has been sending projects both nationally and internationally since the early 1980’s. We have traveled safely to locations such as the Amazon/Brazil, Tanzania, Japan, East Asia, North Africa, Europe, USSR, Russia, Panama, Mexico. The impact of Canadian students traveling to and doing ministry in these and other locations is still reaping continued ministry today.
-
Do I have to book flights for my child for International Projects?
No. For International projects we book all the tickets (the cost is included in the project cost).
-
Do I have to book flights for my child for National Projects?
Yes. For National projects the students are responsible to arrange their own transportation to the project location. We encourage them to use www.myenvoytravel.com which is the travel agency connected with C4C and the staff are well familiar with the projects and locations. The cost of their transportation may be support raised in addition to the project cost and then receipts submitted for reimbursement. All reimbursements are processed in September after the projects have wrapped up.
-
Can I use points to help my child out in their support raising?
For International projects - it is often very difficult to coordinate the exact same flights that we block using your points and for this reason we do not encourage the use of points. For National projects - yes you may certainly assist your child by helping them purchase their transportation using your points.
