Light bulb lesson: “To know God, be myself, and spread His message to others”
I got involved with Campus for Christ by visiting the booth on clubs days at SFU. I met Amy, one of the campus staff, and signed up for the white water rafting retreat. In my first year of university, I joined a bible study where I met some great guys. They challenged me to grow deeper in my relationship with God. I went to my first Winter Conference in Vancouver and decided to go on the Rocky Mountain Project in Calgary that summer. In the following years, I went on the Orient Express project in 2000, and the Toronto Project in 2001. In my final years of study, I became Student President of Campus forChrist at SFU. They were full of challenges, but were rewarding in the end. Joining Campus for Christ was probably one of the best decisions I’ve made. I met some life long friends, faced my fear of evangelism, learned what it meant to be a Christian, and saw a vision of the life I want to lead.
Right now, I’m working for FedEx Kinko’s as a Project Manager. It wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be, but I was put there for a reason. I’ve definitely used the tools I learned from Campus for Christ and applied them in real situations at work. I’ve had deep conversations with my assistant manager, who is Muslim, about faith and Christianity. I work with some great people of different backgrounds who are atheist, agnostic, gay, and lesbian. They also represent many different nations including Iran, Thailand, Russia, Pakistan, Vietnam, and India.
